Champaign Publishing – the clue is in the name. Not only do we publish books, limited edition prints and greeting cards but the images and words are inspired by vast, open areas of glorious countryside.
Most of the scenes painted and the stories told relate to the countryside and seascapes along the south coast of England.
The South Downs National Park with its ever-changing landscapes, picturesque villages, and seemingly endless paths and trails trails feature in many of these works. Add in the lesser known delights of the North Downs and the wondrous Weald between the two and there is no shortage of natural delights to be captured for posterity.
Famous artists and writers have captured the timeless beauty of the Downs taking full advantage of the available light known for its radiance and pearly lustre of chalk, grass and a nearby sea.
Virginia Woolf’s diaries summed up the attraction of the Downs thus: “Too much for one pair of eyes…enough to float a whole population in happiness.”
Join us on an artistic and literary journey through one of England’s most precious natural treasures.
